Untold Scandal

Pictorially sumptuous and sexually provocative Untold Scandal is an erotic drama that turns into a tragic romance. A tale of Machiavellian sexuality among upperclass hedonists and their sexual dupes and pawns that ends, with star-crossed lovers, death and devotion.

Based on Choderlos de Laclos' often-filmed French epistolatory novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, (Dangerous Liaisons) Je-yong Lee has cleverly transplanted the story from 1782 France to late-19th-Century Korea, a period close in culture and mores to the Victorian Age. Where beneath the veneer of wealthy manners, a seething cauldron of desire and scandalous amours simmers.

An erotic wager between two elegantly depraved cousins, the wastrel artist and brilliant seducer Jo Won (Bae Yong-jun) and the seductive Lady Cho (Lee Mi-sook); The most famously chaste widow in the province, Lady Jung (Jeon Do-yeon), a secret Catholic convert who has been celebate since her husband's death nine years ago, is to be seduced by Jo Won, with the added proviso that Jo will seduce and erotically train young Lee Soh-ok (Lee Soh-yeon), who is soon to be the concubine of Lady Cho's husband. The great lady promises to surrender her body to her cousin if he beds Lady Jung and produces proof of conquest. Let the games begin
