Sky Blue
In his feature debut, Moon-Sang Kim creates a futuristic world that is magnificently imaginative and sweeping in scale. Sky Blue is a spectacular animated work that tells a story of love and hope in a world where civilized society depends on pollution to support its existence.
The year is 2142, and humanity’s reckless exploitation of the environment has all but ended civilization on earth. Only a small number of elite possessing power and technology thrive under the dark skies inside the palatial city called Delos.
Jay is a female trooper who guards Delos. Her loyalty is tested when she learns that her childhood sweetheart, Shua, is leading a rebellion to end the reign of pollution. Jay must choose between duty, love and the hope of blue skies.
Director Moon-saeng expertly utilizes cutting-edge, multilayer compositing techniques that combine cell animation, miniatures, and live action with three dimensional, computer-generated locales. Sky Blue is an important artistic achievement that resonates deeply in today’s eco environmental landscape.
