The story of a murder and a marriage. A powerful and original film about the things that haunt us.
Jindabyne, tells the story of Stewart Kane (Gabriel Byrne), an Irishman living in an Australian town. Whilst on a fishing trip in isolated hill country with three friends, he discovers the body of a murdered girl in the river. Rather than return to the town immediately, they continue fishing and report the gruesome discovery some days later. Stewart’s wife Claire (Laura Linney), the last to find out, is deeply disturbed by her husbands’ actions.
Jindabyne is an enthralling film about redemption that refuses to be contained. Director Lawrence knows his psychological onions, and will have you on the edge of your seat. It’s a slow burn that rewards patience.
‘The movie is impeccably acted and its narrative progression superbly managed by Lawrence: for over two hours, I was on the edge of my seat.’
