A showcase of the brightest and most creative independent production company in Northern Ireland

Hard to believe now but back in 1982 there were only 3 TV channels and the BBC and ITV made all their own programmes. DBA Television (David Barker Associates) was established in 1983 as Northern Ireland’s first independent production company and over the next 14 years made over 50 documentaries and factual programmes mainly for Channel Four and BBC Northern Ireland. The work of DBA has gone largely unacknowledged but this year Belfast Film Festival is proud a showcase and discussion which focuses on their work.
David Barker will introduce some of DBA’s ground breaking and original documentaries and present a selection of clips from the DBA archive David will also discuss the collectives work with film makers who worked at the company including John T.Davis, Damian Gorman and Carlo Gebler.
