The directorial debut by Laurent De Bartillat tells the story of an art history student trying to solve the mystery of Antoine Watteau’s paintings as part of her thesis. Her investigation brings her into contact with Vincent, without speech since birth, who turns her study and her world upside down.
Lucie develops a theory on the identity of a mysterious female figure, seen from behind, in Watteau's work. When not studying the artist, Lucie works at a photocopy shop, whose windows overlook a small square from which she watches the mime-like Vincent. Lucie offers friendship, and possibly more.
The Vanishing Point is a cerebral, visually impressive reflection on concealment and revelation in art and the behaviour of people.
