If your father no longer remembers you, does he stop being your father?
This is the simple question at the heart of this astonishing puzzle of a story.
Only a week after the filmmaker’s father recovers from a minor car accident, Richard Minnich wakes up one morning protesting of total amnesia. He doesn’t recognise anyone in the family; his doctors have no explanation as to what has happened - so begins a nightmare journey for all involved.
16 years later, his son, filmmaker Rick Minnich, sets out to establish some sort of truth as the story twists and turns its way through some amazing discoveries.
Like an expertly honed detective story, the film leads to some surprising revelations, questioning the motives of the very man who brought him into the world. Prepare the edge of your seat for a suspenseful mystery, not easily solved.
Special Jury Prize, Joris Ivens Competition, IDFA
“The notion of the possibility to escape from your own life permeates the film and makes the movie not only touching but also exhilarating.” - IDFA Jury
