Described as a tragic musical documentary, Z32 is definitely unlike most documentaries you have seen before. In this case, not exactly a cinema verite narrative but one that is certainly innovative, Z32 explores the touchy subject of Israeli guilt amongst its armed forces.
A young man conversing with his girlfriend, their faces obscured by various effects, is asked to explain, in as honest a fashion as possible, his involvement in an army revenge mission which killed two Palestinian police officers.
Meanwhile, the filmmaker questions his involvement in telling the story, in either sympathising with or judging his subject, through song. This film challenges in a fascinating way on all fronts.
