DORIS DAY – IN SONG AND ON SCREEN
FRIDAY 3 APRIL 8PM
THE BLACK BOX

£7 BOOK ONLINE
One of America's best-loved entertainers, Doris Day is the top ranking female box-office star of all time. Who can forget the image of the spirited blonde with a wholesome twist as she, loved, laughed, cried and sang her way across the silver screen for decades?

In honour of her great talent, the Belfast Film Festival presents an evening of Doris Day’s best-loved songs including popular classics such as Sentimental Journey, Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps and heartbreaking ballads such as I Can’t Stop Loving You. Local songstress Brigid O’Neill will be singing the songs of Doris that cross musical genres from jazz-influenced swing to romantic ballads to evoke the era of this very special movie icon. Brigid will be joined on stage by the musical talents of the fabulous Rod McVey on keyboards and Rod Patterson on double bass.

The live interpretations of Doris’s songs will be complemented by clips from some of her most memorable on-screen moments. Best remembered scenes from classics such as Pillow Talk, The Thrill of It All, Calamity Jane, The Man Who Knew Too Much and Love Me or Leave Me, to remind us of how this magical actress moved effortlessly between romantic comedies, thrillers and dramatic performances.

Introduced by Brian Henry Martin, this promises to be a very special evening of live music and film not to be missed.
