| | | |  | | | | | | | | | Newry born actor John Lynch gave an enlightening and fun acting masterclass as part of the Belfast Film Festival. He spoke of his early influences and inspiration, in particular, Montgomery Clift, whom he admires. He showed clips from The Young Lions to illustrate Clift's very contemporary and physical acting style. He went on to talk about his first acting role in Cal ( 1983) with Helen Mirren and the films that followed, where he plays key irish characters , In the Name of the Father and Some Mother's Son. He spoke of how he prepares for parts and the importance of being in good condition to take on mentally and physically demanding roles.
In recent years John has turned his creative talent to writing. Torn Water his highly regarded debut novel is to be followed by Falling Out of Heaven.
