Phil Mulloy is one of the UK’s most intriguing animators, working in animation since the 1980’s, Mulloy’s visual style is best described as the equivalent of scruffy handwriting; with brush and ink, he utilises simplistic stick figures and minimalist backgrounds in order to allow the viewer’s attentions to focus on the ideas his films present. Indeed, Mulloy’s work tackles what he considers to be the major problems infecting society, (amongst others organised religion, the futility of war, and patriarchal society) but always does so with a sardonic, irreverent humour.
Phil Mulloy will introduce his films and talk about his work.

“Phil Mulloy …is a renowned auteur, [his]…work reflecting the desire to use the unique language of animation, not to be absorbed within the long shadow of Disney, and to offer an often radical point of view.”
